Plain-English everything

Talk to it like a human. "2k rent", "Swiggy 350", "Paid 1.5k for shopping" — no fields, no rigid syntax, no categories to pick.

Private to your household

Your data lives in your household alone — invite a partner with one command, or stay solo. Wipe everything any time with /delete.

You own the data

Export every expense to CSV with /export. Your financial history belongs to you — no retention games.

Frequently Asked

What is Hisaab?
Hisaab is a personal-finance Telegram bot. You log expenses by texting them in plain English — for example, "Spent 1200 on dinner" or "Swiggy 350" — and the bot parses each message into a structured row (amount, category, merchant, timestamp). It's INR-first, household-shareable, and free to use within a daily message limit.
How is Hisaab different from a regular expense-tracker app?
Hisaab lives entirely inside Telegram, so there's nothing to install and no separate login to remember. It uses a language model to read your free-text messages, which means you don't pick categories from a dropdown or fill out forms. Two people in a household can share one private ledger via an /invite code, and you can wipe your data at any time with /delete or export it with /export.
Is Hisaab free to use?
Yes. The free tier allows 20 expense messages and 2 /ask analytics queries per user per day. Both counters reset at 00:00 IST. There is no paid plan today.
Can my partner or roommate share the same expense ledger?
Yes. Send /invite from inside the bot to generate an 8-character code (valid 24 hours). Share that code with your housemate; they send /join CODE and you both write into and read from the same household ledger. Use /leave to start a fresh solo household at any time.
Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
Your messages and parsed expenses are stored in a Postgres database (Neon, AWS Singapore region). The webhook runs on Vercel. Each message is sent to Anthropic's Claude Haiku model (via fal.ai → OpenRouter) for parsing, then discarded. Hisaab does not run any advertising, analytics, or third-party trackers against your bot data, and every database query is hard-scoped to your household. Full details on the privacy page.
How do I delete my data?
Send /delete to the bot. After a confirmation prompt, all your expenses, taught categorisations, and account record are wiped in a single transaction. If you were the only member of your household, the household is removed too.
Does Hisaab work for non-Indian currencies?
The bot currently defaults to INR and Asia/Kolkata timezone, so summaries assume Indian rupees. You can still log numbers in any unit you want — Hisaab will parse the number — but the rendered receipts and analytics will use the ₹ symbol. Multi-currency support is on the roadmap.
Is Hisaab open source?
Yes. The full source is at github.com/NoobAIDeveloper/hisaab under the MIT license. You can self-host it if you'd rather run your own instance against your own database and Telegram bot token.

Stop forgetting where your money went.
